Winners’ Pastor jailed for stealing $90,000 and N4.5m belonging to registered trustees of the church

Afolabi Samuel, a Pastor of the Living Faith Church otherwise known as Winners’ Chapel has been given a 3-year prison sentence by a Lagos State Special Offenses Court in Ikeja, in the wake of being seen as blameworthy of taking $90,000 and N4.5m having a place with the enlisted trustees of the congregation.

The accountant and the congregation’s treasurer who was charged before Justice Mojisola Dada on two checks of intrigue and taking by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, was blamed for contriving with one Blessing Kolawole, a representative of the Covenant University who is presently everywhere, to take and change over the cash for their own utilization, in repudiation of segments 278, 285 and 490 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State No. 11, 2011.

Anyway after the guard counsel, Rotimi Ogunwuyi begged the court to temper equity with benevolence as his customer who had understood his missteps and changed his supplication from not guilty to guilty is liable for his kids’ schooling and care for his matured guardians, Justice Dada allowed the convict an alternative of fine of N1m and requested him to discount the amount of $90,000 and N2,358,000 to the congregation.
