
The management and student of Olabisi Onabanjo University Consult, (OOUC) Nursing department led by Miss Omolade and Miss Oluwaseun Oladoye took to the environs of Obada-Oko, Abeokuta yesterday 28th, May, 2019 to create awareness about the dangers of ignoring health checkup and also sensitized the locals around by providing free health checkups.


This sensitization program is in regard to the ongoing nurses week bolted with the aim of creating awareness to the general public and also boosting the student’s knowledge of their profession.
During the sensitization with the locals, some of the traders and transit cab owners confessed to neglecting their health checkups, instead reverting to local herbs and self mediation in a bid to curb hospital cost.
An anonymous cab owner admitted to being guilty of evading health checkup: in his words.
“I need to cater for my family, so I work from morning (4am) and close late hours at night (12am) daily.
He was however encouraged by Miss Omolade to make Sundays as a cover-up to rest.
The program was however geared by the students acting a short drama to portray and appeal to the locals inner mind to always go for medical checkup regularly and also the benefits of having plenty of rest.
