#FacultyElection: OOUC students exercise their voting right to their preferred candidate

Students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Consult, Abeokuta Study Centre came out en masse today July 29th, 2019 to vote for their preferred candidate in the just concluded faculty election held in one of the school hall.

It was a tensed state as candidates looked unsure of the outcome of the result, despite rigorous campaigns held before the election. However, they were cheered by their supporters who maintained peaceful atmosphere during the election period.

The election was conducted using an E-voting system adopted by the electoral board to ensure a free, fair, fast and accurate result. Despite the E-voting system, students complained bitterly of the slow process thus discouraged some impatient students who left without casting their vote.

News source gathered from Oladiti Taofeek who was also a correspondence to cover the election claims the election which started late was due to an unforeseen circumstances from the proposed programmer who was supposed to handle the e-voting election. It was gathered that he fell ill few days to the election, however it was not disclosed until the night before the election thus preventing him from coming to perform his duties.
That lead to the electoral board getting another programmer which wasn’t an easy task.

Leak Secret correspondents were on ground to interview the candidates, supporters and the electoral committee.

Nosiru Jeremiah, who is aspiring for the post of the faculty president in the school of Basic Medical Science, took a swipe at his opponent Faroyin Damilola. In his words
‘I have nothing against him, although some lecturers told students to vote for him’ when asked about his impact if emerged winner he said ‘every rubbish must go’
Damilola Faroyin however expressed his delight in being among the contestant and promised to add to the development of the faculty.

A supporter of Nosiru Jeremiah, Oyediran Emmanuel in a precise tone showered his candidates with praise, according to him, ‘He is someone capable and  have the ability to fill up the role, some positions are not meant for chickens, I’m very sure he can’t lose.

The election was graced with the presence of the Mass Communication HOD,  Alhaji Adetomi Jolaoso who commended the enormous effort of the electoral committee for their hardwork and ensuring a peaceful, fair and Transparent election. He was overwhelmed with the high turnout of supporters who came out to vote for their preferred candidates.

Candidates who were interviewed by Leak Secret correspondents expressed their enthusiasm with full confidence of emerging the winner, while supporters also showed grease of passion in ensuring they exercise their voting right.

During the course of the election exercise, there was a bit tensed and uproar by the supporters after the electoral committee stipulated that only students with valid ID card and clearance card will be allowed to vote.  However, after much anticipation and consideration, the electoral committee came to the conclusion of allowing every students with identity card vote.

The election ended in a peaceful atmosphere with everyone gearing for the result.
