There was an enormous scare at Atletico Madrid training on Tuesday evening, March 23 when French striker Moussa Dembele fainted and seemed to lose conciousness during training.
The previous Lyon striker was filmed loosening up his hamstrings prior to falling to the ground and lying still on the pitch.
Dembele’s colleagues immediately helped the striker prior to requiring the assistance of Atletico’s clinical staff for urgent clinical attention.
Members of the medical team spent several minutes trying to revive the player, while his teammate ran to the pitch-side ambulance to get a stretcher.
The 24-year-old later regained consciousness after being turned on his side and was able to leave the pitch on his own.
Clinical tests were subsequently conducted on him and reports have expressed there is no ‘genuine’ concern, guaranteeing the occurrence was brought about by low blood pressure.
The player will keep on being checked by the club’s clinical staff and will stay under close watch following the episode.
Dembele – who joined Atletico on a ‘credit with an alternative to purchase’ bargain from Lyon in January, has so far included in only 87 minutes of activity for Atleti.
